The Singapore Zoological Gardens were the world's first
"open" zoo, with most of the animals behind wet or dry moats rather
than behind cages. It is easy to see in about a half day...
Here are some of the animals the zoo has:
Sun bear
Napping polar bear
White Rhinocerous, incedentally, the word white does not
refer to the animals color, rather, "white" is the Afrikaans word for
"wide-lipped". The animals other common name is "square lipped".
King Cheetah....this striped version of the cheetah
is actually a recessive trait resulting 25% of the time from breeding
two heterozygous spotted cheetahs.
Snoozing leopard
Jaguar with a bone
Sleeping jaguars...is there a pattern of sleep here???
Zonked zebra
Herd of zebra butts
Grey Kangaroos
Balancing Tent turtle
Nile hippopotomous
Asian elephant...the pink pigment is typical in the
Sri Lankan line
Giraffe
Sumatran tiger
