S.O.T.A. Stuff

1. [01-29-61]
Now Playing at the Klub:
D'Zaster Zone with special guests the Methane Overtones
--Click for January's Updated!Concert Calendar.
2. [01-28-61]
We've added a New! datafile. It's an Ares Warranty Card. Many thanks to Steven A. Tinner, who had the good sense to post it to the ShadowRN mailing list, last August.
3. [01-26-61]
Hooray! The BKK's Master Index (aka. the Site-Map) is now Updated!automatically!
4. [01-22-61]
To our growing cgi library, we've added a New! Print Shop which "scrubs" the site's webpages & leaves them suitable for printing, with or without the images. Kudos & Karma to Slothman for the concept. You can check out his Shadowrun page at http://www.amurgsval.org/shadowrun/
5. [01-22-61]
The BKK is very proud to revive our oft-maligned, "Capital Depreciation Fund." Are you worried that you made too much Nuyen, during the past year? April 15th is just around the corner. In no time you'll be up to your earrings in ledgers, P&L's, and W-2's. So (with apologies to the Tappet brothers) we've put together a tidy little scheme, er, "package," to assist you. Just E-Transfer any extra curency that you've been hoarding to the BKK and we'll guarantee a 50% return of your money! That's right, we promise to return 50% of your hard earned nu¥en! (Click for legal disclaimers.) Don't delay! Send today!
6. [??-??-??]
There is NO number 6 ! (I am not a number, I am a free electron!)
7. [01-22-61]
A quick behind-the-scenes note: at the request of the Linux crowd, we've Updated!the entire BKK website to conform to a 216-color palette (which I'm told, oughta please the Mac folks as well).
8. [01-16-61]
Stop the presses! From the archives of ShadowTK, Rita has uploaded a New! journal entry entitled, "Summer Vacation." She recorded it from headware last June, so as a bonus, it gives you non-cybered folks a glimpse into our augmented world. (FYI, there's a pic of "Hun'ry Cussin" on page three of the new SRIII Critters Sourcebook. He can also be found in Paranormal Animals of North America, twice.)
9. [01-14-61]
Whoop! Thanks to our Virtual Avenue hosts & Selena Sol's Script Archive, the BKK is now searchable! Check the New! search page for details & watch this space for news of more CGI improvements!
10. [01-14-61]
Heaps of thanks to all who've sent in quotes, slang, links, survey results, & suggestions via our Updated!submission gadgets! We've, once again, Updated!Overheard in the Shadows, the (146 K-Byte!!) Glossary of 2061 Slang, and our Shadowrun Matrix Links page.
11. [01-07-61]Rita in dis dress
The pictures are back from our annual New Year's Eve Charity Gala!! And believe it or not, our resident Razorgal even let us post one of her!! The event this year raised an astounding ¥126,716.00 which was forewarded to the local street urchins' shelters!! Thanks, once again, to all who attended and made this year's event such a success!
12. [12-29-60]
Today, the BKK had its 30,000th visitor!! Not bad for a narrowcast, target-audience type site. Especially, considering that unlike most webcounters, which measure the total hits per day, ours registers only the number of individual visitors per day. So if you drop by two or more times in a 24-hour period, none of your visits after the first will be tallied.
13. [12-08-60]
Our Attributes page's MBTI section has been added to the Myers-Briggs Personality Type on the Web.
14. [06-16-60]
Well, it had to happen sooner or later; the popularity of Baz Luhrmann's over-played, over-abused, top-40 song has found its way to the hallowed annals of ShadowRN. *Sigh* So, if you can stand to see one more version of it, check out our New! datafile: Never Deal With a Dragon.
15. [06-05-60]
Two new characters have been added to the BKK's shadowrunner gallery: Trixter is a female human bodyguard and "John Doe" is a dwarven physical intrusion specialist.
16. [04-20-60]
I actually managed to compile a few of those promised Players' & GMs' sourcebook lists. So if you're new to the game & wondering what you ought to buy, check our suggestions! And while you're at it, take a look at the Updated!FASA product listings at the BKK Bookstore!
17. [03-26-60]
Always on the lookout for more shadowslang, I picked up a copy of Paul Dickson's Authoritative Topic-By-Topic Slang Dictionary, and to my surprise mixed into the "Cyberpunk" section, were a whole bunch of slang terms which *I* wrote. Kudos to Jes Wulfsberg Nielsen for passing them along to the author!

I'd like to take this time to thank everyone who's helped me test the new CGI-less Forms, which are scattered in various locales throughout the site. The popular Mini-Survey (see below) has produced results which seem to be split between "The BKK ROCKS!", "Take an HTML class, poser!", & one person who has sent us three seperate "no comment chummer" -comments. Oh well, everything seems to be functioning correctly, now. So, give the new forms a try, just please note: 1) they are NOT some sort of site-wide search engine device-type-thingie & 2) if you want me to be able to post your submissions, please fill the forms out completely. Penmanship counts. Thanks, citizen.

The BKK . . .
ROCKS!
Sucks Rocks.
designer must have been stoned.
designer oughta be stoned!
er, no comment chummer.
Take an HTML course, poser!
Hunh? What was the question?
Comments, flames, critíques, or emotional hang-ups:
(Note: this is NOT a search device -- use your Ctrl-F or click to Search the BKK!)

If your browser can handle this type of form, pressing the "send-it" button, above, should email me your responses, without bringing up a blank email message window. Otherwise, you can always submit to us the old fashioned way:

Future History

1. [07-13-56]
So, the naysayers scoffed when I announced my plans for this website (& I'm not naming any names, but our munchkin calls her, "mommy!"). Anyway, here it is -- albeit, 2 months later than I'd have liked. And what IS it all about, you ask? Well..., the Big Knobi Klub is a place for runners to congregate and let their spikey hair down. More than just a tavern, the BKK is a shadowrunner-friendly establishment. It's a venue with attitude and atmosphere, but mostly it's a place that our runner group's called "home" for over half of a decade. If you doubt me on this, check out the anonymous advertisement on page 58 of the good ol' Seattle Sourcebook, omae!
2. [02-14-60]
In Association with Amazon.com Shop for
Shadowrun
Sourcebooks!
Start the presses!! The Big Knobi Klub is proud to announce our new partnership with Amazon.com and with it, the grand opening of the BKK Bookstore! You'll now be able to easily order all of the Shadowrun books from one convenient locale, without resorting to that tedious mucking about through Amazon's (and FASA's!) web site! But what else, you ask, is "in store" for you? Well... complete listings of in-print & out-of-print Shadowrun sourcebooks, modules, and novels--all the way back to the first edition BBB; official FASA product release dates (well, as close as they'll give us anyways--all subject to change, of course...); monthly SR-genré features, including related CDs & videos; and "suggested- purchasing" lists for new players & beginning GMs (ie. what do I really need to buy?), all accompanied with our own brand of irreverant humor & highly opinionated reviews. And, before I forget, our letter of authenticity from the President of Amazon.com
3. [01-01-59 thru 12-31-59]
A small(!) note from the BKK's Archiver (or What Happened to 2059?!) Ever since the initial release of the First Edition rules, Shadowrun has been set "60 years in the future." All sourcebooks' & novels' time-date stamps reflect this (if one adjusts for real-world publishing schedules and for world-wide distribution delays). And in such fashion here at the BKK, we've faithfully marked the passage of time thru this simple addition. However, with the advent of Shadowrun3, FASA has changed the time offset to "61 years in the future." How was this accomplished? By releasing a number of multi-year, campaign-style adventures in the year prior to SR3's release. For us, this little twist caused a major problem: we could either maintain our slick filing system or lose a year & conform to Shadowrun's new continuity. After much thought, we've finally decided to "bite the bullet & skip over 2059." (Note that we've filled in the 'missing' months in our Concert Calendar Archive.)
4. [07-16-58]
We've added a New! privacy invasion device: ICQ Status to the center of the ICQ Comm Panel on the main page. It's an experiment of sorts, purportedly showing when my computer is turned on (ie. when I'm logged-on to ICQ). So far, it's been pretty slow to respond and seems to function more reliably after dark. (Actually, I didn't think that anything in the Matrix could possibly take longer than WebCounter... ;-)
5. [02-02-58]
Er, is that strike against 'Raku set for Wednesday or Sunday? Whacha mean, "ya don't know?" Well, it so happens we have an Updated!Calendar section. All of the years from 2050 thru 2065 (you're welcome, Gladious!) have been painstakingly (re-)created. We've also included the three controversial Perpetual calendars, just to confuse the issue.
6. [12-15-57]
Our resident Ancients' Mage, Vixen, has put together a riotous list called, "You Know the Mage on Your Team's From the CAS When..."
7. [12-15-57]
Next, our very own anti-social Gator Shaman, D'Arcy LaRue has compiled his own listing. He calls it the "Top 13 Shamanic Initiation Tips." Both are required readings!!
8. [11-12-57]ICQ Communication Panel
Ack! Mr. Logan, the BKK's website maintainer, has joined the ranks of the SINners!! So if you ICQ too, look him up (SIN:4413963). If you don't you can still contact him thru the ICQ Communication Panel on the main page.
9. [11-10-57]
We finally received our color copy of the not-so-New! Tarot Firearms Spring Catalogue (lemme tell ya, the UCAS Postal Service sux, out here...). Also we've put up a full-color "Tarot FA" Table of Contents on the Engineers' Fun Page, which now additionally contains an excellent article on the ins-and-outs of Monowire!
10. [11-02-57]
Well, I'm halfway through "The Halloween Heist" which is the next chapter to be released in the on-going Tales From the Klub novel; however, in the meantime, I've uploaded a Halloween Tale from the Big Knobi Klub. This one's set in the year 2057 and was written in response to the first challenge from the "Shadowrun Fiction Writers' Circle." Look for more short stories to follow!!
11. [10-12-57]
Alrighty, I admit it, I'm finally tired of answering the question: " 'Ke'noby?' What's that mean?". In responce to this & all such further questions to this effect, I've posted a definition on our site's F.A.Q. (I should've thought o' this yearz ago...) Also, I've greatly added to the disclaimers at the bottom of the page.
12. [10-11-57]
Check out our full-color review of the SR2 Trading Card Game! Now Rita, Buzz, & LaRue all have their own (bootleg) trading cards!!! We've included lots of useful SRTCG links & while you're at it, why not sign up for the SRTCG Mailing List!! Also, take a peek below at Mike "Skuzzy" Nielsen's description of the game.
13. [05-12-57]
It's finished! The (130KB!) BIG List of Quotes: (Overheard in the Shadows) is now on-line! These sayings, which are borrowed from Leading Edge Games, now have a page all o' their own. Don't worry, we'll still maintain [a link to] the original, smaller list, here on the BKK News page.
14. [04-07-57]
Click here for the lowdown on the BKK in the May issue of The net magazine! (Plus a lesser tidbit concerning Fenris & Vixen in the "Dunkelzahn's Secrets" Sourcebook.)
15. [03-10-57]
Finally, the long awaited Big Bad Black Ops Page is now online! It features: The Black Operators' Commandments & a WHOLE Bunch of Dirty Tricks. We realize this first installment was a long time coming, but we think it was well worth the wait.
16. [03-08-57]
It's finished! The Expanded version of the Random Insult Tables. Now it has 6³ entries!
17. [03-06-57]
A slightly Updated!version of the Danger: Electrocurs! file has been uploaded. Thanks to several clever 'runners on the "rec.games.frp.cyber" Usenet, I've fixed the doggies' kg weights. (Sloppy metric conversions -- hey, at least I got the cm'd heights right!)
18. [09-30-56]
Since I recieved two e-mail queries on this subject in 1 day: Yes, the dates & events in Shadowrun's sourcebooks run approximately 60 years ahead of the current, real-world dates. So, their "9-30-56" corresponds to our "9-30-96." As our current year progresses, so does theirs. This is also true for release dates & posting dates in the Sourcebooks. Nitpickers take note: I called FASA Development about this, the other day. I was & still am correct, since (as we all should know) their publishing schedule is laid out, 18 months in advance, they have to guesstimate (ie. push back) their "posting dates." So that's why the latest sourcebooks show it to be early 2058, not 2057 as it is here at the Klub.
19. [10-15-56]
Players & GM's, check this wizzer datafile: "Thirty Questions" It's designed to help flesh-out your PC's and NPC's. (Sorry, about the <PRE>formatted text!) This is something I hand out to new players at the beginning of a campaign. See if you can answer all 30 on each of your characters.

    Teasers

  1. N.E.R.P.S. "Lost and Found" is currently being HTMLized.
  2. More chapters of "Tales From the Klub" are being contemplated as you read this.
  3. "Roleplaying Game Tips" - The hypertext Role-Playing Glossary is temporarely delayed.
  4. Bring on th' Bad Guys: Shadowriders & Aztechnology Secret Service (A.S.S.) Agents.
  5. "Grimtooth's Traps: 2058" - nuff said!!!
  6. The .Gif reproduction of the "Big Map o' Seattle" still needs a bit of touching-up.
  7. The BKK's floorplan .Gif is still under consideration.

Overheard in the Shadows
(>) In the intrest of streamlined News, this rather lenghty feature now has its own page. Click here for the New! listing of "Things Overheard in the Shadows." (And when you're through, don't forget to check out The BIG List of Quotes.)

Shadowrun Industry News & Other Important Stuff
(>) I figured it was about time to give this (somewhat seldomly Updated!) feature a page all its own, too. Click here for the New! compilation of "Shadowrun Industry Stuff."

(>) This is the BKK's obligatory "What's New" page. The upper, State-of-the-Art, section announces updates and additions. It is also for displaying "limited duration posting" -type things. Check it frequently to see if I've made any changes since your last visit. The lower, Future History, section is for posting things whose durations are "a bit more permanent" in nature. It'll also serve as a holding bin for the upper section's not-quite-deletable, but no-longer-new items. So, look down there for stuff you'd have otherwise missed. Below that, is a list of current (soon-to-be-posted) projects or Teasers. (Nasty of me, I know...) Down near the bottom is [a link to] our whimsical listing of things Overheard in the Shadows. Finally, below that is [a link to] our Industry News section, which I holds any real-world Shadowrun stuff that we come across, as well as anything else that piqués my interest -- those timid at heart, had best beware!
