Julian studied magical theory and metaphysics at UCLA. He received his Doctorate of Thermagy in 2034, alongside such notables as Garrett, Kano, and White Eagle.
He used his arts liberally on numerous shadowruns between 2035 and 2044 (before things like, "permanent drain" were fully understood). Eventually, his dangerous lifestyle took its toll and he lost the ability to wield all but the simplest of spells.
In a world not yet prepared for magic, Julian and his team managed to amass a small fortune before disbanding. At this point, he could have retired in luxury to a life of peace and quiet. Instead he decided to take on an apprentice. He spent most of 2045 assensing the denizens of Seattle, until finally settling on an elven go-ganger. As with many mages (burnt-out or not), the reasons for Julian's actions are largely a mystery.
