Lobo is a Desert Wars veteran and hero, serving four consecutive tours in Saerer-Krupp's battalion-sized army. He eventually reached the position of Engineering Company Commander (at the age of 23!). During his fourth tour, he was critically wounded by and an enemy grenade, which resulted in his involuntary expulsion from active military duty. While semi-conscious and floating in a tank of nutrient fluid, he was approached by Hans Brackhaus, who offered him a position in the corp's newly formed Black Op's Division. Saeder-Krupp bankrolled most of his cyberware, but (as with most deals with dragons) Lobo didn't come out ahead in the bargain. S-K's Chiban clinic also installed a beta-grade cortex bomb. Lobo began his indentured servitude back in Seattle, assigned under Major Klaus Durak, a former S-K battalion commander. For nine years, he "performed his duties as an operative" with an ever-increasing level of friction between his sense of morals and Durak's apparent lack of them.
In 2048, Lobo and Rita crossed pathes on separate 'runs against the same Renraku research facility. A year later, Gislan arranged for Lobo's release from his corporate "contract." At this point, the company man, Lobo became the street samurai, Fenris. After working solo for ten-months, Fenris joined Rita's fledgling runner team, the Outcasts. |
