"Members
of the Eastern Shore Amateur Radio Club participated in a hidden
transmitter
hunt." Three teams of three hams and one team of two hams
competed
against each other to locate a hidden transmitter, operated by
Kenny,
K4CWJ, that could be almost anywhere in Accomack or Northampton
County.
The first team found the hidden transmitter near the Accomack
County
Airport in 1:05. The second team found the transmitter in 1:20
and
the last in 1:45. Steve, KV4AN, who led the winning team said, "I
was
really worried when I got to the starting point and one of the teams
had
quad verticals mounted on their vehicle and something inside that
looked
like a depth finder." The three teams that located the hidden
transmitter
used Yagi antennas and handi-talkies with rubber ducks. A
short-range
loop antenna club project is under development."
First and Second placed teams. Kenny (the fox) is in the truck.
