About Us
Eastern Shore
Weather Service was started June 1st, 1998 by Dennis Cope after
finding there
was no weather sites on the Internet just for the Delmarva area.
By using data
directly from the National Weather Service via EMWIN which
stands for Emergency
Managers Weather Information Network. ESWS
receives the
data with a satellite dish so if the phone lines went down
weather data,
warnings and forecasts would still be available to our users.
With our own Lightning
Detection System we can detect lightning
storms as far
away as 300 miles and over the Internet
show it to you
courtesy of Delmarva on Line.
Our local weather
station located at Wallops, Va., provides
detailed local
weather conditions for both the amateur and professional
meteorologist.
With our emergency
radio system we can directly contact our local
Emergency Operations
Centers, Hospital or the National Weather Service.
This Is Our Control Room
This is Our Communications Tower
The wind sensors are located 60' on the tower and the temperature /
humidity sensors are 25' on the tower.
Communications antennas on the tower allow us to communicate with other
locations in the event of
a telephone system failure. An emergency power generator powers the
facility in the event of a power
outage.
Eastern Shore Weather Service provides emergency weather data to the
US. Coast Guard, NASA, National Park Service,
Pocomoke City Police, Eastern Shore 911 Center, U.S. Navy, Local Skywarn
Storm Spotters, local radio
stations, emergency operations centers and police in our local area
at no charge.
Now we offer our new Weather Fax Service for Government agencies.
We now can fax weather data to you as soon as it comes in from the
National Weather Service.
Forecasts, Weather Warnings and much more. At no charge to government
agencies.
As a matter of fact we don't charge for anything.
Free weather E-Mail service is available to
anyone who wants it, FREE!
Go back to our main page to subscribe.
We are now retransmitting, at no charge, EMWIN to the local area.
The frequency is 163.350 Mhz and can be received on a police
scanner and an inexpensive demodulator
for your computer. The coverage area should be from Cape Charles,
Va. to Seaford De.
All NOAA weather data is transmitted on this EMWIN system for the states
of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia
and North Carolina along with complete Hurricane and severe weather
information.
This system is
completely free of all land based facilities (wires) so emergency operations
personal or local citizens can
stay current on changing local weather conditions.
