Upper Shore Aging's Programs and Services
SENIOR CENTERS offer exciting programs and fellowship in a comfortable setting, and are the focal points from which our agency delivers the following programs in each of its member counties:
CONGREGATE MEALS are served in our major senior centers.
HOME-DELIVERED, also known as "Meals-on-Wheels", are delivered to the frail, homebound elderly by volunteer workers.
SENIOR INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE helps older persons maintain their independence.
SENIOR HEALTHSCOPE is a program of health and wellness education.
SENIOR HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELING and ADVOCACY PROGRAM (SHICAP) offers advice and guidance on insurance matters.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE allows for access to lawyers for the purpose of basic legal advice.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES by the UPPER SHORE TAKE -A-RIDE PROGRAM (USTAR) for the elderly, disabled and general public.
HOUSING for seniors by Upper Shore Aging Housing Corporation (USAHC), an affiliated organization that operates 8 senior housing communities.
SENIOR CARE offers assistance to the frail elderly by coordinating the services of various agencies.
GROUP SENIOR ASSISTED HOUSING- Upper Shore Aging works with homeowners who seek the certification required to operate Group Senior Assisted Housing.
OMBUDSMAN- Upper Shore Aging staff investigates and attempts to resolve complaints on behalf of residents in long-term care facilities.
GUARDIANSHIP- Upper Shore Aging's Executive Director may act as "Guardian of the Person" for elderly individuals who cannot make competent decisions.
WEATHERIZATION- A program designed to make homes energy efficient for income-eligible applicants.
SHOPPING FOR SENIORS, offered in Kent County, further allows for the independence of the elderly client.
