Dorchester County Courthouse

One of the many historic sites along scenic High Street, the courthouse was constructed in 1852. The present structure is the third such building to serve Dorchester County. Sometime prior to 1695, the first courthouse was built; the second courthouse was erected in 1770. During one of her missions, Harriet Tubman returned to rescue her sister Mary Ann who was being auctioned at the courthouse doorsteps.
