Waugh United Methodist Church

Waugh United Methodist Church is one of the oldest African American churches in the United States.

Founded during slavery, Waugh Church has served the Cambridge African American community since 1826.

At such time, free blacks as well as slaves were only allowed to gather for worship services in the presence of a white minister. This is the fourth building to be erected at this site.
