Bazzel Methodist Episcopal Church in Bucktown, Maryland was officially organized in 1876, though the local African American community has gathered here for worship services since slavery days. In the early 1800's, a path leading from the Brodas plantation was once travelled by Harriet Tubman and her family to this site for open air church meetings.
