A Word (S) From Judy
The LDA International Conference held in March in Washington D.C, was a wounderful opportunity for those who attended to hear presentations by leaders in the learning disability field. There was a wide range of topics available and the information shared was from the latest trends and research. We had a good representation from out group, LDA/LS, with about  a dozen members attending either one day or the entire seminar.

My particular interest is with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. I was thrilled to hear Dr. Sam Goldstein, author of several professional books, including; Managing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Overcoming Underachieving: An Action Guide To Helping Your Child Succedd in School. Dr. Goldstein described behaviors associated with ADHD and LD. However, children can learn to succeed, in spite of their disability, with: family support, resilient personalities, opportunities for postivive experiences, and educational, medical and therapeutic interventions.

This is our last newsletter until the fall. Best wishes for a relaxing summer!
