MISSION:
The mission of EAES is to provide a local, nonprofit
agency dedicated
to the prevention and control of epilepsy and to serve people with
other developmental disabilities.
Due to misunderstanding and ignorance, epilepsy is perhaps the last
of the great stigmatizing disorders. In fact, for many who have the
condition, negative public attitudes are often more difficult to handle
than the seizure itself. Therefore, it is the unique challenge of our staff,
volunteers and board not only to assist people with epilepsy and their
families but also to educate the public about the condition.
EAES is a nonprofit agency serving the nine-county region of Maryland's
Eastern Shore. We are an affiliate of the Epilepsy Foundation of the Chesapeake
Region (a statewide organization dedicated to serving the
more than 50,000 Marylanders with epilepsy). We are also proud members
of the united appeal campaigns of Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent,
Queen Anne's, Talbot and the Lower Eastern Shore.
