Guess Who's Coming To Dinner ?

Disgruntled Users from Other Systems

The Stone Soup Committee, much encouraged by numerous inquiries, commissioned us, during the Fall 95 Strategic Planning Session and Birdbath to update one and all on our progress, to thank those who have responded, and to encourage others to join in the fray.

This is not to imply that any real progress has been made, of course, since the one qualification for serving on the Soup Committee is complete ineptitude in the social graces, and between us one could hardly expect to pour a decent cup of tea. No matter, our hearts are pure, even if our minds are not.

But there is some progress to report, and an amusing turn of events as well. The progress is, basically, that everyone thinks it's a grand idea. Richard Mitchell composed an interesting form (see below) which allows a running dialogue automatically posted by any reader. This has begun to see some more activity, and we encourage one and all to share their thoughts. It is possible to do so anonymously, as well, if getting up in front of the class is still a problem for you.

We also recieved inquiries from Delmarva-Online Users, who asked if they were welcome, too. The consensus of the committe was that they would be, although they would be required to wear funny hats.

The other development of note was that no one seems to agree on a location for the festivities. Some hale and hearty souls want to have it on a remote spit of land in Virginia, while other more comfort-minded users prefer an indoor venue. If there is, in our readership, someone with any experience in these matters, we ask them to come to our aid. To get a group of engineers to decide on a social affair is about as sensible as getting a group of rabbits to build a house. It's simply not their nature.

Which is not to imply that revelry is beyond them. Hardly. We are certain that once the site is chosen, and the fire built, we shall see revelry the likes of which has not been observed in these quarters since prohibition.

Well, that's something to look forward to, isn't it ?
