Ireland, that beautiful green dot in the Atlantic Ocean, is a
second home to the hearts of all who visit it. All of these hearts
have felt the love and friendship of the people of Erin, and their
endless hospitality.
But my mind's eye goes back centuries to the Celts, a people
formed from many Central European and sub-Asian tribes, their trek
over Europe, to finally settle on this small island of "forty shades
of green".
They endured invaders from many countries, and came through it
with their dignity and identity intact.
Ireland is known as the land of Saints and Scholars, with many
great writers such as Joyce, Yeats, Keats, Shaw and so many others
that space doesn't permit naming all of them here. And through all
the years, many great patriots!!
Today, people in Ireland celebrate their great Saint's Day by
attending Mass, and the blessing of the shamrock.
So, now to close with an Irish blessing from a book entitled
"Irish Treasures":

May St. Patrick smile on you,
The Lord above bless you,
And peace and contentment
Forever possess you!
