HIGH PERFORMANCE MANUFACTURING

Level 1

This course introduces skills and knowledge that will prepare students for careers in manufacturing. Students will be familiar with basic manufacturing systems, processes and equipment operation. Students will operate in work teams as they study product design, environmental and safety science, computer assisted drafting (CAD), computer assisted manufacturing (CAM), equipment operation and quality control. Participation in Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) is encouraged. It is suggested that students take Principles of Technology as a related science and Introduction to Engineering and Mechanical Technology as a related elective.

Level 2

The second year of training is a continuation and in depth study of concepts and skills taught in level one with additional emphasis on advanced skills in computerized drafting and computer assisted manufacturing. Students will study business theory and practices related to the manufacturing industry, such as, quality control, manufacturing systems design, and technical communications. Participation in Vocational Industrial clubs of America (VICA) is encouraged.
