ELECTRICITY I

Students learn current techniques used by electricians in both construction and maintenance. Basic DC theory, magnetism, basic panel and booth wiring, and minor electrical building maintenance are taught. All instruction is based on the National Electric Code. Students read, interpret and develop residential and light commercial wiring diagrams. The course includes both classroom and shop activity and requires homework. Participation in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) is encouraged.

ELECTRICITY II

Electricity II is a continuation in depth of areas covered in Electricity I. Students gain hands-on experience wiring a house at the on-campus construction site. Additionally, students learn remote control wiring, electric motors, advanced residential wiring, light commercial wiring, and advanced building maintenance. Students take part in a job-orientation program. Students recommended by their instructor may be eligible for placement in an on-the-job training program with a local employer during the second semester. The course includes both classroom and shop activity and requires homework. Participation in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) is encouraged.
