Reading

Raising the MSPAP reading scores seems to be the most difficult job for teachers in our schools. I have had comments from teachers across the state whose kids are able to score at satisfactory in all categories but reading (oh, how I wish that were the case at my school!). Anyway, if kids are able to score satisfactory in all of the other areas, they must also be capable readers. What will it take? We need to pool our best resources and strategies to help those kids who are capable readers prove it to the scorers. That is the purpose of this part of the web site.

Reading scoring tools are "question specific," meaning that a scoring tool and answer cues are generated for each reading question that is on the test. I have taken what I have learned, modified it in my own way for use at our school, and what now appears on this website is the information that I have developed for my own school's use. If it can be of use to yours, I hope you will use it and let me know if it helps you to understand any of this process any better. Please share any strategies, techniques, scoring tools, activities, etc., that you have developed, too. This should be a website for everyone to use, a clearinghouse for ideas.

Check frequently for new additions. Now, on to the task at hand.
