Language Usage Rubric
When I see this icon,
my writing is also being scored for:
- one of the writing outcomes
- capitalization
- punctuation
- spelling
- sentence structure
- grammar and usage
Score Point 4
- My writing is consistently correct in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
- I used a variety of sentence formations that are clear and understandable.
- My grammar and usage are appropriate for this type of writing.
- Any errors that are present do not interefere with the reader's understanding.
Score Point 3
- My writing might have some errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
- The sentence formations I used are generally clear and understandable.
- My grammar and usage are appropriate for this type of writing.
- Errors I may have do not interfere with the reader's understanding.
Score Point 2
- My writing has errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, and some might be repeated throughout.
- I tried some sentence variation, but my sentence formations might not be clear.
- I have errors that may interfere with the reader's understanding.
Score Point 1
- My writing needs serious improvement when it comes to capitalization, spelling, and punctuation.
- I need to vary my sentences and work on making them clear.
- I might not have written enough to really show what I know about capitalization, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage.
