Man O'War

Man O'War was born in Kentucky in 1917. He was owned by the Riddles who lived in Berlin, Maryland, and in Kentucky.

Man O'War was a record breaking horse. He broke a track or world record in eight out of eleven races. From racing and winning in so many races he got the nicknames Big Red, and King of the Turf.

At the age of four he retired as a racehorse. He became a stud on a farm in Kentucky. The Riddles would often bring Man O'War to their Berlin farm, and many of the oldest local residents recall going to the farm to see and pet the famous horse.

In 1947 Big Red the famous racehorse died and a big funeral was held for him in Kentucky.
