[BACK TO PINEHURST] [HOMEWORK HOTLINE]
Pinehurst is basically a neighborhood school. While the students in our Intensity Five program come to us from throughout the county, the majority of our regular program students come from our surrounding neighborhoods. Our school district is bordered by Route 13 on the east, Route 50 on the north, Delaware Ave., Catherine St., and the Wicomico River on the west. The main two-story building of our school was built in 1937 and dedicated in 1939. An east addition was added in 1961, the cafeteria in 1963, a west wing in 1969, an extension to the west wing in '69, and an "open-space" west wing extension in '71. In 1987-88, major renovationss were made to the entire school and a new building was added to the south to house the Intesity Five gymnasium and therapy tank complex. Located at 520 South Pinehurst Avenue, the school has a square footage of 76,224 and is on a site of 8.9 acres.
Pinehurst has a history of high academic achievement and excellence. Our goal is to continue this tradition as we strive to meet the needs of a diverse and expanding student population. We earnestly solicit your cooperation and support in this venture.
