Series Rules
- Competitors may be in any or all
races.
- Competitors must compete in the
same class with the same partner in all three races to accumulate points
in the point series.
- A "DNF" (did not finish)
is not a disqualification from the series, but is worth no points.
- Novice or advanced status will
be determined at Race #1, and will remain unchanged through the series.
- Points for each race will be awarded
as follows: 1st place 5 points, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place 1 point.
- In the instance of a tie in the
point series, the lower gross time will be awarded the win.
- An "advanced" team is
one in which either paddler has placed in the top five in a race with five
or more entrants in that class for the past three years.
- One (1) life jacket per person
shall be worn or carried in each boat.
- Self-bailers and decking allowed.
- Minimum age to race is 14.
- Boats must remain on the race course.
- Only single-blade paddles may be
used by canoeists.
- Double-bladed paddles may be used
by kayakers.
- Any racer not finishing must
report ASAP to race officials. Prevent unnecessary search and rescues!
- Contestants are duty-bound to help
others in jeopardy.
- Any boat may be inspected prior
to the race.
- Winners in each class will be determined
by order of finish.
- United States Canoe Association
rules will apply, with modification.
- Waiver must be signed at each race
site.
- The committee reserves the right
at all times to modify, change, and/or rescind the present rules and regulations.
- Races will be held rain or shine.
- A standard canoe is any non-racing
type canoe not over 18 1/2' long and may be constructed of any material.
- A competition cruiser is a racing-type
canoe of a maximum 18 1/2' length, with a 4" waterline width of not
less than 14 3/8% of the length.
