Report from the March Clinic

Delmarva Morgan Horse Club members and many guests enjoyed a day of horses and learning on Saturday, March 20.

Heatherstone Morgans in Clayton, Del., hosted the informational clinic for about 45 participants from several states. The featured speakers were Heatherstone’s trainers, Jim and Michelle McCleester.

First, the McCleesters demonstrated how to body clip a horse, using a very beautiful and very cooperative Morgan for the demonstration.

Next, they showed everyone how to turn out the perfect horse-show hoof! They sanded and polished and when they were done, their Morgan model had a beautiful set of hooves ready for the show ring.

Finally, the McCleesters demonstrated finish show clipping and foal handling. All of the presentations were very well done and extremely informative. Their clear and interesting explanations made the rest of us feel like we would be as successful as they were! Thanks so much to Jim and Michelle! (See the pictures below).

Heatherstone provided a beautiful spread of food - including a cake with the club’s emblem emblazoned on it! - for all of the participants (at no charge). The clinic also was free, with donations accepted for the club, thanks to the generosity of Howard and Catherine Stump, Heatherstone’s owners. The club would like to thank them for their hospitality! Also, thanks to Kathy Mullaney, who ran the clinic.

The day concluded with the award of silent auction items to the winners. Thanks to everyone who donated an item!
